Quantum Future Launched! CYCU and New Taipei City Education Bureau Jointly Cultivate Quantum Talents.

On August 18, 2025, Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) and the New Taipei City Education Bureau jointly launched the Quantum Application Hub to drive innovation in high school education and prepare future technology talent. The program offers interdisciplinary, hands-on courses by integrating CYCU’s advanced Quantum Laboratory, Semiconductor Testing Lab, and Holographic Projection Classroom. High school and vocational students will begin their learning journey from quantum applications, expand into cross-disciplinary exploration, and envision new career paths.

The year 2025 marks both the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology and the centennial of quantum mechanics. As a key member of Taiwan’s “National Quantum Team,” CYCU actively collaborates with government, industry, and academia to foster the “Quantum Generation.” This partnership with New Taipei City not only enhances students’ academic portfolios but also builds strong high school–university linkages, cultivating globally competitive quantum talent.

CYCU President Ying-Ming Lee noted that this marks the university’s first comprehensive curriculum partnership with a local government, bringing Taiwan’s most complete quantum computing facilities directly into high school education. The initiative provides students access to five Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) quantum computers (two 3-qubit and three 2-qubit systems), enabling them to engage with cutting-edge computational technologies at an early stage. In addition, CYCU has established the Bachelor’s Program in Intelligent Computing and Big Data and will launch a new Bachelor’s Program in Semiconductor Industry under the College of Semiconductor Studies in 2026, offering a full academic pathway for students aspiring to enter the semiconductor and quantum fields.

New Taipei City Education Bureau Director Ming-Wen Chang emphasized that the program spans four major fields: intelligent computing and quantum information, semiconductor industry, design, and humanities. Four courses have been planned—“Introduction to Quantum Computing,” “Introduction to Semiconductors,” “Designing Your Spatial Aesthetics,” and “Immersive Photography and Holographic Tours.” Covering both theory and practice, as well as design and application, the courses allow students to experience interdisciplinary integration in real-world settings, helping them gain an early advantage in future technologies and career development.

President Ying-Ming Lee stated that as Chung Yuan Christian University celebrates its 70th anniversary, the school remains committed to its founding mission. Through this landmark collaboration with the New Taipei City Education Bureau, CYCU extends its quality higher education resources to high schools, fulfilling its social responsibility and nurturing globally competitive talent. He highlighted that CYCU has achieved a 100% undergraduate enrollment rate for three consecutive years and a 100% freshman registration rate for five consecutive years—evidence of strong trust from society, parents, and students in the university’s educational quality.

Since 2018, the New Taipei City Education Bureau has pioneered a “High School–University Co-Learning Platform,” partnering with universities to offer over 250 free courses and camps across 18 disciplines. This year’s collaboration with CYCU will provide weekend micro-courses and lectures, enabling high school students to explore cutting-edge technologies and interdisciplinary learning in real university settings. Courses begin in November with registration opening in September (https://learningcollaboration.org/). All courses are free, inviting New Taipei high school students to step into their “Quantum Era.”
