On September 3, CYCU’s Chinese Language Teaching Center hosted the “Explore CYCU – College of Business & College of Engineering” campus visit, attracting 32 enthusiastic Mandarin learners from Vietnam, Indonesia, and other countries. The event highlighted the distinctive strengths of CYCU’s colleges and showcased its comprehensive academic pathways, enabling international students to advance from language learning to professional studies and build a solid foundation for further development in Taiwan.
Director Teh-Fen Ou of the Chinese Language Teaching Center noted that the event aimed to guide Mandarin learners in exploring academic opportunities at CYCU and to encourage them to continue their studies in Taiwan. With strengthened language skills and exposure to resources and visits arranged by the Center, students gain diverse academic counseling channels, professional insights from faculty, and peer experiences—helping them adapt more quickly, build confidence, and prepare for future challenges.
The first stop of the tour was the College of Business, introduced by Director Te-Kuan Lee of the Office of Globalization. He emphasized that CYCU’s College of Business has earned AACSB international accreditation, ensuring high-quality teaching and strong global competitiveness. The college actively promotes academic cooperation, talent exchange, and partnerships with universities worldwide, highlighting Taiwan’s key role in global higher education.
Director Te-Kuan Lee further explained that the College of Business offers diverse academic opportunities, including scholarships to support outstanding students, Dual Degree & Exchange Programs that enable students to pursue double degrees, and a 4+1 Bachelor–Master program allowing completion of both degrees within five years. These initiatives provide comprehensive guidance and support for students with different goals.
Associate Professor Hao Fang, Director of the International Undergraduate Program in Business and Management (IUBM), highlighted the program’s holistic education approach in cultivating global talents with character, teamwork, and innovation. The curriculum covers four key areas—business management, international business and trade, finance and accounting, and information management. Through problem-based learning (PBL), project work, and service learning, the program ensures students can apply their knowledge in real-world contexts.
Dr. Nguyen Thi Cam Trang, Assistant Professor of Business Administration and Head of CYCU’s Digital Promotion Section, who has lived in Taiwan for over a decade, shared her journey of adapting to local culture and becoming part of CYCU. She encouraged Mandarin learners to be brave in trying new experiences and to actively integrate into campus life, resonating especially with Vietnamese students.
The second stop was the College of Engineering, introduced by Dr. Shu-Hao Chang, Director of the Industry Talent Development Center and Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering. He highlighted the college’s five departments and emphasized CYCU’s strategic location near Hsinchu Science Park, Zhongli Industrial Park, and the Greater Taipei industrial hub—providing students with abundant internship and career opportunities.
Notably, Norelyn, a student from the Philippines, shared her story. After working seven years at ASE Group in Zhongli and later starting her own business back home, she returned to Taiwan this year to study at CYCU’s Chinese Language Teaching Center with the goal of pursuing a university degree. Her exchange with Dr. Shu-Hao Chang deepened her understanding of Taiwan’s global competitiveness in the hardware and software industries and its career prospects. The visit concluded with graduate students from Dr. Chang’s Nano Materials and Devices Lab and an Indian student from the TEEP program joining the session, adding an international dimension to the event.
The “Explore CYCU – College of Business & College of Engineering” visit concluded successfully, giving students not only valuable insights into academic opportunities but also greater confidence in pursuing further studies in Taiwan. The Chinese Language Teaching Center noted that it will continue to encourage students to choose CYCU as their first choice for higher education, hoping they will broaden their learning and embrace wider horizons through cross-cultural exchange.
