CYCU Launches “AI University” Phase II to Boost AI Talent and SME Transformation.

CYCU launched Phase II of its “AI University” program in September, engaging 7 companies and 29 students in 16 weeks of training and projects to bring AI into workplaces and support SME digital transformation.

CYCU highlighted that AI is reshaping industries worldwide, and Taiwan’s SMEs must adopt it to tackle labor shortages and global competition. In Phase II of the “AI University” program, seven companies from fields including materials, construction, and food trade proposed real-world challenges—ranging from predictive maintenance to smart scheduling—for students to solve, enabling hands-on AI applications that support enterprise transformation.

The 16-week course moves from AI fundamentals, to design thinking fieldwork, to co-developing AI solutions with companies—helping students bridge learning and practice while addressing real business needs.

No.7 Algorithm CEO Shen Bing-Wen stressed that Taoyuan SMEs face labor shortages and global trade pressures, and lack AI resources. The “AI University” program enables companies to bring real problems and students to deliver solutions, with executives co-learning alongside students to drive AI adoption and move traditional manufacturing toward smart transformation.

Phase I of AI University produced tangible outcomes, including AI-powered systems and new executive AI roles in companies. Some firms even pledged to recruit students early, proving the program’s long-term impact. CYCU President Lee highlighted the program’s mission to boost student employability and SME digital transformation, while its core feature—students and companies co-learning in the same classroom—ensures practical, career-ready experience.
