In its 70th anniversary year, Chung Yuan Christian University once again achieved remarkable results in student recruitment. According to the Ministry of Education’s statistics for the 2025 academic year, the university’s undergraduate freshman enrollment rate has again reached 100%, maintaining full enrollment for six consecutive years. Including additional ICT expansion quotas approved by the Ministry of Education, the actual enrollment rate reached 101.33%, surpassing previous years. CYCU has never relied on reserved quotas, meaning this reflects a genuine enrollment rate, allowing the university to rank first among all public and private comprehensive universities nationwide for eight consecutive years.
Despite declining birth rates and growing higher-education competition, Chung Yuan Christian University continues to show strong growth. This year, freshman academic performance improved significantly, matching top national universities and surpassing many well-known public universities. CYCU’s 2025 undergraduate retention rate reached 95.35%, ranking first among private comprehensive universities. These results demonstrate strong trust from students and parents and affirm CYCU’s excellence in holistic education, teaching quality, research innovation, and talent development.

CYCU has made significant progress in interdisciplinary research and international collaboration. In its first participation in the 2026 THE Interdisciplinary Science Rankings, CYCU ranked 301–350 globally, 11th in Taiwan, and first among private comprehensive universities. Stanford University’s 2025 list of the world’s top 2% scientists includes 29 CYCU professors, reflecting strong research capabilities in AI, engineering, chemical engineering, materials, and management.
To respond to semiconductor and AI trends, CYCU established the College of Intelligent Computing and Quantum Information and Taiwan’s first Semiconductor Industry College among private universities, partnering with KU Leuven, IMEC, and Vietnam’s FPT University. It also launched the “CYCU AI University” platform, incorporating NVIDIA DLI certification, quantum computing, and LLM applications.
The university is also upgrading education environments and programs. Beyond STEM, architecture now includes an AI Digital Fabrication Lab; international engineering camps and AI competitions are held with Intel and ASUS; and cross-university AI and data science capstone programs further strengthen students’ AI capabilities.

In terms of international academic impact, CYCU scholars continue to shine. Physics Chair Professor Ching-Ray Chang was selected by UNESCO as one of the global “Top 100 in Quantum,” highlighting CYCU’s achievements in quantum research, education, and industry collaboration, while offering students access to cutting-edge research environments. In addition, young scholar Ting-Jui Chen from the Department of Electronics collaborated with MIT and published in the prestigious journal Nature, further demonstrating CYCU’s strong capabilities in interdisciplinary research and international cooperation.

CYCU was ranked the No. 1 “Most Preferred Private University by Employers” by Global Views Monthly. Student performance is also a key strength: Information Management students achieved an eight-year winning streak in the National Information Application and Service Innovation Competition and completed clinical validation with Chang Gung Memorial Hospital; the College of Design won iF International Design Awards; and Electrical Engineering startup teams repeatedly excelled in the Ministry of Education’s U-Start program and international entrepreneurship competitions, showcasing CYCU’s strong innovation and entrepreneurship capabilities.

According to CYCU’s Admissions Office, this year’s admission results show strong student quality. New students in the Colleges of Science, Engineering, and Electrical Engineering & Computer Science ranked 17th nationwide in the science track, while students in Business, Education, Design, and Law ranked 22nd nationwide in the social sciences track—comparable to top national universities and making CYCU a leading choice among private institutions.

President Ying-Ming Lee stated that CYCU upholds “holistic education” as its core mission. Over the past 70 years, the university has remained committed to faith, professionalism, and care, establishing itself as a model for higher education. Looking ahead, CYCU will continue to move toward sustainability, helping young people find their paths and develop into professionals with innovation, competence, and social responsibility.
