To advance international academic collaboration and expand the global reach of Chinese language education, the Department of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language at Chung Yuan Christian University conducted an exchange visit to South Korea from April 4 to 10. The delegation established substantive partnerships with several top universities, including signing university- and departmental-level MOUs with Jeonbuk National University. The collaboration also promotes student exchanges, course observations, and international academic lectures, demonstrating CYCU’s global competitiveness in Chinese language teaching and digital language education.
Led by Dean Peng Ni-Si, the delegation visited Seoul National University, Yonsei University, and Jeonbuk National University. At Seoul National University, they engaged in academic exchanges with the Department of Chinese Language and Literature and arranged student study programs. At Yonsei University, Vice President Kim Hyun-Chul personally welcomed the group, where they observed Chinese language classes and toured the campus—gaining deeper insights into Korea’s Chinese language education system and higher education environment while broadening international perspectives.

A key highlight of the visit was an international academic lecture held on April 8 at Seoul National University. Dean Peng Ni-Si delivered a talk titled “From Data-Driven Learning to Holographic Immersive Teaching: Theory, Design, and Practice in Chinese Language Education.” She shared Chung Yuan Christian University’s recent achievements in business Chinese, specialized vocabulary corpora, data-driven learning (DDL), international co-teaching, and AI- and multimodal-enhanced instruction. The lecture drew enthusiastic participation and lively interaction, fostering meaningful cross-border academic exchange.

In terms of student development, the Department of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language at Chung Yuan Christian University arranged for students to observe multiple Chinese language courses at Seoul National University and Yonsei University, covering conversation, writing, and professional Chinese. Through classroom observation and participation, students analyzed different teaching strategies and course designs, and engaged in group discussions and writing exchanges with Korean peers to explore differences in education systems and culture. Many students noted that the experience helped connect theory with real-world international teaching contexts, offering valuable insights for future careers in Chinese language teaching and global education.

On April 9, the delegation visited Jeonbuk National University, a leading national comprehensive university in Korea. The visit marked a key milestone, with the formal submission of a university-level sister school agreement and the signing of a departmental MOU. Both sides reached concrete agreements on student exchange, joint seminars, teaching collaboration, and interdisciplinary research—strengthening Taiwan–Korea higher education ties and laying a solid foundation for future academic collaboration and talent development.

Dean Peng Ni-Si noted that future efforts will focus on expanding student exchanges, international co-teaching programs, and cross-language initiatives, while advancing business Chinese, professional Chinese, and AI-assisted teaching to cultivate globally mobile, tech-savvy Chinese language professionals.
Chung Yuan Christian University emphasized its commitment to holistic education, integrating professional knowledge with character development to nurture globally minded talent. This Korea visit not only reflects CYCU’s achievements in internationalization, but also highlights the growing global impact of Taiwan’s Chinese language education.
