CYCU hosted the finals and award ceremony of the 4th National Business Big Data Innovation Competition on May 22, attracting 27 teams from 13 universities across Taiwan. Organized under the Ministry of Education’s Smart Innovation Talent Development Program, the competition was co-hosted by CYCU’s Office of Academic Affairs, College of Business, and Global Taiwanese Business Research Center, in collaboration with KEYPO Big Data Analytics. This year, SCRUM agile development and software engineering methodologies were incorporated into the evaluation process for the first time, encouraging students to apply big data analytics and AI tools to address real-world business and social challenges.

Following three rounds of competition, 14 teams advanced to the finals. Topics ranged from consumer markets, tourism trends, and brand management to social issues and AI applications, demonstrating students’ abilities to transform data insights into practical solutions. CYCU students delivered outstanding performances, earning both second and third place awards. The second-place team developed an AI-powered fraud risk prediction model, while the third-place team analyzed travel consumption trends among Generation Z. The results highlight CYCU’s ongoing commitment to interdisciplinary education and hands-on training in data analytics and artificial intelligence.

CYCU Vice President for Academic Affairs Lee Cheng-Wen noted that as AI technologies continue to advance, organizations increasingly rely on data analytics and intelligent technologies for decision-making. To better prepare students for future challenges, this year’s competition incorporated agile project management and software engineering concepts, enabling participants to gain hands-on experience in digital project development while strengthening their interdisciplinary collaboration and problem-solving skills.

Looking ahead, CYCU will continue to advance interdisciplinary education in big data, artificial intelligence, and business management through the Ministry of Education’s Smart Innovation Talent Development Program. By hosting the National Business Big Data Innovation Competition, the University aims to provide a platform for intercollegiate exchange and hands-on learning, while cultivating future professionals equipped with strong data-driven insights and technological expertise.
