Embracing the AI and Quantum Era: CYCU Graduates Encouraged to Lead with Resilience and Compassion.

CYCU celebrated its 68th Commencement Ceremony on June 6, marking the graduation of 3,531 students who now join a global alumni network of nearly 160,000 members. As AI and quantum technologies reshape the future, CYCU encouraged graduates to carry forward the spirit of holistic education, combining professional expertise with compassion and social responsibility to make a positive impact on the world.

President Ying-Ming Lee encouraged graduates to embrace the opportunities of the AI and quantum era while remaining compassionate and socially responsible. He emphasized that CYCU’s holistic education equips students with both professional expertise and the values needed to make a positive impact on society.

Chairman Kuang-Cheng Chang encouraged graduates through the biblical story of Ruth and Naomi, highlighting the values of mutual support and compassion at the heart of CYCU’s holistic education. He urged students to combine professional excellence with a spirit of service, using their knowledge and talents to make a positive impact on society in the age of AI and technological advancement.

Taoyuan Mayor Simon Chang encouraged graduates to cherish the lifelong bonds they have built with their professors and classmates at CYCU. Reflecting on his own academic journey, he shared how guidance from his teachers led him from civil engineering into the field of computer technology, shaping the course of his career. He reminded graduates that the support and mentorship of teachers remain a valuable source of strength throughout life.

Distinguished Professor Wei-Hsin Sun of CYCU’s Department of Physics and Editor-in-Chief of Scientific American Taiwan delivered the commencement keynote, “The Future World,” exploring emerging trends in medicine, space exploration, and artificial intelligence. He encouraged graduates to think independently in the AI era, emphasizing the importance of self-discipline, helping others, and pursuing goals that create both personal fulfillment and positive impact on society.

Chiu Chiu-Lin, President of the CYCU Global Alumni Association, welcomed the graduates into a worldwide alumni network of nearly 160,000 members. He encouraged them to cherish the friendships and mentorships formed at university, uphold CYCU’s spirit of faith and action, and use their talents to serve others. By giving back to society and spreading kindness, he urged graduates to create positive impact and carry forward the values of compassion and service around the world.

Kuo Han-Yi, a Business Design student from Malaysia and recipient of CYCU’s highest student honor, the Holistic Education Benchmark Award, shared her journey of growth during her four years at the University. Overcoming cultural differences, academic challenges, and life away from home, she gradually stepped out of her comfort zone through extracurricular activities, competitions, and service-learning experiences. Kuo credited CYCU’s holistic education for helping her develop not only professional skills, but also a strong sense of responsibility, compassion, and resilience, broadening her horizons and shaping her personal growth.

Wang Yu-Kuan, a Psychology graduate from Malaysia and representative of the international graduates, reflected on his journey at CYCU. In addition to receiving academic excellence awards and participating in a National Science and Technology Council research project, he gained valuable friendships and personal growth. Despite facing cultural differences, language barriers, and homesickness, he found strong support from faculty and classmates. Wang noted that CYCU’s holistic education not only strengthened his professional knowledge but also equipped him with the courage and resilience to face future challenges.

CYCU highlighted its recent achievements, including being ranked No. 1 among Taiwan’s private comprehensive universities in the 2026 University Brand Power Awards and receiving the Industry–Academia Collaboration Excellence Award from the Chinese Institute of Engineers for the ninth time through its “Mini Silicon Valley” initiative. The University encourages its 3,531 graduates to carry forward the professional expertise, interdisciplinary skills, and social responsibility fostered through holistic education. Guided by the motto “Guided by Faith, Illuminated by Wisdom,” graduates are expected to make meaningful contributions in the AI era and create positive change in society.
