Chung Yuan Christian University is gearing up to celebrate its 68th anniversary, and in addition to the Anniversary Sports Day and Alumni Day event on October 14th, it will host “Think Tank Week” from the 11th to the 13th. During this week, influential figures in the fields of AI, digital technology, quantum science, and the semiconductor industry will be invited to speak. Furthermore, the university will confer an honorary doctoral degree in engineering upon alumnus Wang Ning-guo from the Department of Chemical Engineering. Wang Ning-guo is the first scientist to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI). His significant contributions to the semiconductor industry have not only made him a source of pride for Chung Yuan but also a beacon for Taiwan.
Chung Yuan Christian University has a network of over 140,000 alumni, many of whom have achieved remarkable success in various fields, including recipients of prestigious awards such as the Presidential Science Award, the Ministry of Culture’s National Cultural Award, and the Overseas Community Affairs Council’s Global Outstanding Overseas Chinese Alumni Award. Notable alumni leading successful businesses include Lin Chien-nan, Chairman of Formosa Plastics Group, and Lin Ting-fang, Chairman of Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Group, both of whom graduated from the university.
In line with the changes of the times and the global context of sustainable development, Chung Yuan Christian University began hosting lectures during its anniversary celebration, called “Think Tank Week,” starting in 2022. This initiative encourages Chung Yuan community members to embrace lifelong learning and stay in step with the times while promoting holistic education.
