The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Center at Chung Yuan Christian University holds an annual entrepreneurship competition with prize money reaching millions, encouraging students to pursue entrepreneurship and realize their dreams. This year’s “100K Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition” attracted nearly a hundred outstanding teams from 37 universities and colleges nationwide. After intense preliminary rounds, 30 elite entrepreneurial teams advanced to the finals. Among them, students from Chung Yuan’s Biomedical Engineering, Industrial and Systems Engineering, and Architecture departments responded to social needs with their professional knowledge and innovative thinking. They developed a digital speech training system for Parkinson’s patients, dietary health services for the elderly, and an environmentally conscious umbrella dryer, showcasing the exceptional research and development capabilities of Chung Yuan students.
This competition featured three main themes: “Smart Technology,” “Industrial Innovation,” and “Social Practice,” echoing the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The organizer, Chung Yuan Christian University, integrated entrepreneurship competitions, entrepreneurial guidance courses, corporate mentorship programs, and international resources to provide participating students with comprehensive learning opportunities for acquiring entrepreneurial skills. The finalist teams applied their knowledge to address current and future challenges, bringing tangible benefits to society.
The “Speech Fun” team, composed of faculty and students from Chung Yuan Christian University’s Department of Biomedical Engineering, developed a “Speech Rehabilitation” mobile application for Parkinson’s disease patients with dysarthria. This app integrates speech recognition technology with gamified design, providing patients with an engaging and effective training method. It helps improve their speech abilities, enhances social interactions, and ultimately improves their quality of life. The team is dedicated to using technological innovation to enhance the training experience for patients, bringing them hope and support. A student remarked, “The entrepreneurial journey is not easy, but we are fortunate to have the support of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Center and guidance from experts across various fields. These valuable resources have allowed us to apply what we’ve learned and create our own competitive edge.”
A team composed of students from Chung Yuan Christian University, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, and Hungkuang University, integrating expertise in long-term care management, nutrition, and industrial engineering standardization, has developed a thoughtful dietary health service for the elderly.
