CYCU Hosts 2025 APCYS, Showcasing Global Youth Innovation in Quantum Science.

The 2025 Asia-Pacific Conference of Young Scientists (APCYS), co-hosted by Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) and National Taiwan University, was held from July 23 to 25 at CYCU’s College of Intelligent Computing and Quantum Information. Nearly 100 students and faculty from over 10 countries, including Mongolia and Russia, joined the event, themed “Year of Quantum,” marking 100 years of quantum theory.

This was CYCU’s first time hosting APCYS, demonstrating its strong capabilities in quantum and intelligent technologies. CYCU has established Taiwan’s first private-sector School of Semiconductor Industry and a pioneering college dedicated to AI and quantum education, integrating interdisciplinary curricula with industry collaboration to train next-generation tech talent.

Quantum expert and CYCU Chair Professor Ching-Ray Chang delivered a keynote on the future of quantum computing, encouraging students to embrace disruptive innovation. The conference featured student research presentations in five fields—physics, math, computer science, life sciences, and environmental science—with poster sessions and oral defenses evaluated by international judges.

Participants visited CYCU’s Quantum Research Center and semiconductor labs, gaining hands-on experience with quantum simulators. The event also included cultural exchange activities, with Taoyuan Mayor Cheng Wen-Tsan attending the opening to show local support for global scientific engagement.

According to Dean Chao-Ming Fu, CYCU continues to strengthen partnerships with industry and offer real-world experience to students. President Samuel Y. M. Lee emphasized that hosting APCYS reflects international recognition of CYCU’s innovation-driven education. The university aims to expand global collaboration and cultivate future-ready leaders through advanced research and open academic exchange.
