CYCU Achieves Over 100% Enrollment Rate, Science & Engineering Scores Rival National Universities.

As Taiwan’s universities enter the new academic year amid demographic challenges, freshman enrollment rates have become a major focus. According to CYCU statistics, as of September 19, the university’s undergraduate enrollment rate for Academic Year 114 reached 101.3% (including expanded ICT quotas), surpassing 100% for the sixth year in a row and maintaining its position as the No. 1 comprehensive university (public and private) nationwide for eight consecutive years.

Admissions Director Chi Teng-Yuan noted that CYCU not only achieved full enrollment again this year, but also exceeded last year’s rate while continuing to attract higher-quality students. Based on the 2025 university placement results, students admitted to CYCU’s College of Science, College of Engineering, and College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science ranked 17th nationwide in the natural sciences track, up from 26th in 2023, now on par with national universities. One student admitted to the College of EECS even achieved scores equivalent to National Taiwan University’s entry level.

Meanwhile, students entering CYCU’s College of Business, College of Humanities and Education, College of Design, and College of Law also showed significant improvement, with rankings in the social sciences track rising from 29th in 2023 to 22nd nationwide, comparable to many leading national universities. These results highlight CYCU’s balanced excellence across both liberal arts and sciences, reinforcing its strong educational competitiveness.

In recent years, CYCU has actively advanced diverse development by establishing the College of Intelligent Computing and Quantum Information and the College of Semiconductor Industry. These strengthen the university’s competitiveness in semiconductors, quantum technology, smart manufacturing, AI, and cybersecurity, while also enhancing expertise in law, psychology, applied Chinese, and social sciences, with a strong emphasis on cross-disciplinary integration and social engagement.

To foster innovation between language education and technology, the College of Humanities and Education launched the MetaDisplay Holographic Classroom, featuring holographic imaging, AI-assisted Chinese language teaching materials, and RPG-based language learning modules. This new platform equips students with core competencies in language, technology, and cross-disciplinary skills, breaking stereotypes about the disadvantages of the humanities in the AI era.

CYCU continues to strengthen its teaching excellence by recruiting distinguished experts from academia and industry. Notable additions include Chang Ching-Ray, Director of the Quantum Information Center; Fu Chao-Ming, newly appointed Dean of the College of Semiconductor Industry; and renowned astronomer Sun Wei-Hsin as Chair Professor of Physics. The university also welcomed back outstanding alumni, including Wang Ning-Kuo, a pioneer in international semiconductors and Distinguished Alumnus of Chemical Engineering, and Chiu Li-Meng, former NVIDIA Global Vice President and a leader in AI development.

Their participation not only enhances CYCU’s academic and research capacity, but also brings invaluable opportunities to its students.

President Lee Ying-Ming noted that this year’s incoming students achieved results surpassing many national universities, underscoring CYCU’s strong academic reputation and the public’s trust in its educational philosophy. He emphasized that whether in science, engineering, IT, or the humanities and social sciences, CYCU students are widely recognized, proving that holistic education opens new frontiers across disciplines.

Looking ahead, President Lee reaffirmed that CYCU will continue to uphold the Christian spirit of love and service, with holistic education at its core. By integrating professional expertise with humanistic values, the university aims to cultivate graduates with solid professional competence, global vision, and social concern, injecting vitality and hope into the future of Taiwan and the world.
