CYCU Leads Biomedical Engineering Education with 2026 Joint Expo.

In response to the rapid growth of digital healthcare and the rising demand for interdisciplinary talent, Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) hosted the “2026 Biomedical Engineering Education Expo” on March 14. The event brought together 11 universities across Taiwan—including NYCU, NCKU, NCU, TMU, CGU, MCU, CMU, TCU, Asia University, ISU, and CYCU—and attracted around 200 high school students and educators. Through interactive exhibitions and exchanges, participants gained insights into biomedical engineering education and future career trends.

As highlighted by Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs, the demand for talent integrating biomedical engineering with AI and ICT continues to grow. The expo featured presentations by department chairs and faculty, as well as showcases on medical imaging, biomedical sensing, medical device development, AI in healthcare, and biomaterials. CYCU also presented hands-on demonstrations, including ultrasound systems and MR imaging applications, enabling students to explore real-world medical technologies and better understand pathways in smart healthcare and interdisciplinary learning.

The event also featured face-to-face interaction sessions, allowing students to engage directly with faculty members and current students, and to ask questions about curriculum design, learning experiences, research directions, and future career paths. Many students and parents noted that the expo enabled them to efficiently compare biomedical engineering programs across universities, providing valuable guidance for academic choices and career planning, while fostering a lively and engaging atmosphere.

Su Mei-Ju, Chair of the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU), noted that the expo brought together biomedical engineering programs from across Taiwan, showcasing each university’s teaching and research achievements while helping high school students and parents better understand the field’s development potential. The cross-university platform also fosters academic exchange, resource sharing, and greater public awareness of biomedical engineering education.

CYCU has long been committed to holistic education and interdisciplinary learning, with biomedical engineering serving as a key integration of engineering, medicine, and technology. In addition to fostering inter-university collaboration, the expo helps students align with industry trends at an early stage. Moving forward, CYCU will continue to strengthen cross-disciplinary education and partnerships, cultivating innovative and integrative biomedical engineering talent to drive the advancement of smart healthcare and the biomedical industry in Taiwan.
