Chung Yuan Christian University held its “2026 Innovation and Entrepreneurship Carnival” on May 20, organized by the Office of Industry-Academia Operation. Centered on two main themes—“Recognition of Industry-Academia Collaboration and Technology Transfer Achievements with Entrepreneurship Sharing” and the “Forum on the Transformation of Traditional Industries toward Smart Manufacturing”—the event brought together experts from industry, government, and academia, entrepreneurial alumni, startup teams, faculty members, and students. The carnival highlighted CYCU’s long-term achievements in industry-academia collaboration, technology transfer, and innovation and entrepreneurship incubation.

The morning session featured an awards ceremony recognizing faculty achievements in industry-academia collaboration, technology transfer, and patents, highlighting the successful application of research in industry. In the afternoon, a forum on smart manufacturing transformation focused on AI applications and industrial upgrading, accompanied by guided tours of Industry 4.0 demonstration sites to promote closer collaboration between academia and industry.

CYCU President Lee Ying-Ming stated that CYCU is committed to integrating academic research with industry and social applications through its educational philosophy of holistic education and the integration of theory and practice. In recent years, the university has continued to advance industry-academia collaboration, technology transfer, and innovation and entrepreneurship, strengthening its role in regional industrial development and the national innovation ecosystem.

In 2025, CYCU’s technology licensing and transfer revenue exceeded NT$27 million, while industry collaboration funding surpassed NT$100 million. The university’s research teams have also received support from the National Science and Technology Council’s Research Startup Program for three consecutive years.

During the entrepreneurship-sharing session, Associate Professor Lin Cheng-An from the Department of Biomedical Engineering shared his experience in transforming research into startup practice. His team is currently planning to establish Tersu Optics Co., Ltd. with support from the NSTC Research Startup Program.

In addition, industrial engineering alumnus and Nufa Technology Co., Ltd. Chairman Chen Han-Tung was invited to share his cross-disciplinary entrepreneurship experience, covering topics such as corporate governance, ESG sustainability, and brand management, offering students and faculty diverse perspectives on entrepreneurship and industry practice.

The afternoon forum focused on how traditional industries are embracing AI and smart manufacturing transformation. Their talks highlighted how industry-academia collaboration is helping companies shift from experience-based operations to data-driven management and smart manufacturing.

Among the startup teams, Seven Algorithm Integration Co., Ltd., a company incubated at the CYCU Accelerator and Incubation Center, shared applications of AI technologies in business process optimization and knowledge management. CEO Shen Bing-Wen presented a talk titled “AI Agent Knowledge Systems: A Key Tool for Business Transformation.” Through the “AI University Industry-Academia Co-Creation Program,” Chung Yuan Christian University also connects students with real-world industry projects, helping them develop interdisciplinary skills and practical problem-solving experience.
