Amid the rapid rise of generative AI and accelerating global industrial transformation, Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) partnered with the Taoyuan City Government to host the “Generative AI and Industrial Transformation Summit Forum” on May 26, 2026. The forum focused on key issues including urban governance, educational innovation, and industrial upgrading in the AI era.
Bringing together representatives from government, industry, and academia, the event explored how AI is reshaping society and future talent development, highlighting CYCU’s proactive role in connecting public sectors, industry, and higher education to advance innovation and transformation.

Taoyuan Mayor Chang San-cheng noted that the rapid rise of generative AI is driving global industrial transformation and technological competition. He praised Chung Yuan Christian University for its long-term commitment to interdisciplinary talent cultivation and close connection with local industry development. Mayor Chang also expressed hope that continued collaboration through the AI transformation forum series will further expand AI applications and industrial upgrading through partnerships among government, academia, and industry.

CYCU President Ying-Ming Lee delivered the keynote speech titled “Artificial Intelligence and Geopolitics,” emphasizing that generative AI is no longer merely a technological competition, but also a force reshaping global power structures, supply chain security, and national governance. He noted that countries around the world are accelerating AI development strategies and establishing independent AI systems and regulatory frameworks, leading to new models of AI governance and international competition.
President Lee emphasized that competition in AI is no longer limited to technology alone, but also involves national governance, industrial resilience, and talent strategies. In response to the global changes brought by the AI era, he noted that higher education institutions should cultivate interdisciplinary talent equipped with technological literacy, global perspectives, and ethical judgment to meet future societal needs.

The forum also featured keynote speeches by Hsiu-Wu Liao, Chairperson of the Taoyuan Smart City Committee, and Kuo-Jen Huang, Vice President of National Taichung University of Education. Their talks explored the impact of generative AI on public governance, talent cultivation, and future education from the perspectives of smart city development and AI-driven educational transformation.
Hsiu-Wu Liao noted that the Taoyuan City Government is actively promoting smart city development through AI-powered governance applications, including environmental monitoring, intelligent traffic systems, and citizen services, to create a more convenient urban environment.

Kuo-Jen Huang focused on educational transformation in the AI era, emphasizing the importance of cultivating critical thinking, creativity, interdisciplinary integration, and self-directed learning to prepare future talent with strong technological literacy.

The panel discussion, titled “How Can Industry and Academia Collaborate to Strengthen Taiwan’s AI Talent and Technological Resilience?”, was moderated by CYCU Vice President Tsung-Yuan Wu. Panelists included representatives from government, academia, and industry, who discussed AI talent cultivation and industrial resilience from the perspectives of smart governance, educational innovation, and industry practices.

Organized by the General Education Center of Chung Yuan Christian University, the forum was built upon CYCU’s long-standing philosophy of holistic education, integrating interdisciplinary learning with technology ethics to create a platform that combined technological insight with humanistic perspectives. The event attracted strong participation from industry professionals, alumni, faculty, and students, reflecting broad interest in the impact of AI on governance, education, and industrial transformation.
Director Hui-Ling Ke of the CYCU General Education Center stated that the forum successfully brought together perspectives from government, academia, and industry, strengthening industry-academia collaboration and promoting dialogue on generative AI. She added that CYCU will continue integrating AI technology with humanistic values while working with government and industry partners to cultivate globally minded and socially responsible talent for Taiwan’s future industrial and smart city development.
