CYCU Strengthens Industry-Academia Collaboration with TSMC to Develop Semiconductor Talent.

To meet the growing demand for semiconductor professionals, Chung Yuan Christian University has partnered with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company to cultivate industry-ready talent through a comprehensive training framework that combines academic learning and industry engagement. On June 10, CYCU’s College of Semiconductor Technology, Chung Yuan Christian University held the “CYCU × TSMC Semiconductor Program Information Session,” attracting nearly 100 students to learn about the Semiconductor and Smart Manufacturing Programs and explore future career opportunities in the semiconductor industry.

The semiconductor industry is a key driver behind the advancement of transformative technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), high-performance computing, smart manufacturing, and electric vehicles. Fu Chao-Ming, Dean of the College of Semiconductor Technology at Chung Yuan Christian University, noted that Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company is not only a global leader in the semiconductor industry but also a driving force behind the growth of the entire supply chain. He emphasized that early exposure to cutting-edge technologies and real-world industry applications enables students to strengthen their global competitiveness and gain insights into future technology trends.

Sponsored by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company and implemented by Chung Yuan Christian University, the TSMC Program offers two tracks: the Semiconductor Program and the Smart Manufacturing Program. The curriculum integrates semiconductor technology, materials analysis, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and smart manufacturing through an interdisciplinary course design, enabling students from diverse academic backgrounds to develop specialized expertise. Students who complete the required coursework and pass the evaluation process will receive a program completion certificate issued by TSMC.

Beyond classroom learning, students have opportunities to visit TSMC’s Newcomer Training Center (NTC), wafer fabrication facilities, and equipment manufacturers, as well as attend courses taught by TSMC industry professionals. According to Fu Chao-Ming, integrating industry resources into academic programs helps bridge the gap between theory and practice while equipping students with industry insights and professional skills for future careers.

The information session also highlighted the program’s incentive scheme. Students who meet the eligibility requirements and subsequently join Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company may receive a NT$150,000 incentive award. In addition, participants gain access to TSMC recruitment information and career opportunities, further strengthening their competitiveness in the job market.

Fu Chao-Ming stated that Chung Yuan Christian University will continue to deepen its collaboration with TSMC and other industry partners by integrating educational, research, and industry resources. Through these efforts, the university aims to cultivate semiconductor professionals equipped with strong technical expertise, interdisciplinary capabilities, and a global perspective, contributing new momentum to the development of Taiwan’s technology industry.
