Thirteen projects by students from Chung Yuan Christian University’s (CYCU) Department of Interior Design were selected for the Southeast Asia Interior Student Project Display, held in Hanoi, Vietnam, from May 9 to June 7, 2026. Representing Taiwan, the selected works highlighted students’ creativity, design excellence, and human-centered thinking while showcasing the achievements of Taiwan’s design education on the international stage.
The exhibition was part of the 7th Vietnam Interior Design Student Awards (ISA) and brought together outstanding student projects from across the Asia-Pacific region, promoting cross-cultural exchange, design innovation, and collaboration between design education and professional practice.

The exhibition featured more than drawings and scale models; each project employed spatial storytelling to explore local culture, collective memory, and visions for the future. Addressing themes such as healing environments inspired by nature, herbal medicine culture, industrial heritage revitalization, mountain community education, coastal settlements, and commemorative spaces, the works reflected students’ thoughtful engagement with local identity, social issues, and environmental sustainability.

According to the organizers, the projects from Taiwan were distinguished by their thoughtful, refined, and poetic approach to design. Beyond spatial innovation, the works emphasized the emotional connections between people, place, culture, and memory. Through layered spatial experiences that interpreted the spirit of place, the projects attracted considerable attention from both the international jury and exhibition visitors.

The Department of Interior Design at Chung Yuan Christian University has long been committed to excellence in design education and international engagement, encouraging students to draw inspiration from local culture while addressing real-world social needs. Through this approach, the department nurtures designers who combine creativity, humanistic values, and a global perspective. The selection of 13 student projects to represent Taiwan at the exhibition not only enhanced the international visibility of CYCU students but also demonstrated the University’s educational commitment to staying rooted in local culture while engaging with the world.
Looking ahead, CYCU will continue to expand students’ global perspectives through international exhibitions, professional design competitions, and cross-border collaborations, fostering the next generation of design professionals with the creativity, vision, and competitiveness to thrive on the global stage.
