CYCU Celebrates 71st Anniversary with Launch of Ten Collaborative Laboratories, Marking a New Milestone in University–Industry Partnerships.

Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) celebrated its 71st anniversary and Alumni Day on October 17, 2026, bringing together alumni from Taiwan and abroad, industry leaders, faculty, staff, and students to commemorate the University’s achievements and future aspirations. A highlight of the celebration was the joint inauguration of ten collaborative laboratories, underscoring CYCU’s commitment to advancing research innovation, strengthening university–industry partnerships, and cultivating future-ready talent.

The opening ceremony took place at Tsung Cho-Chang Memorial Hall, where CYCU Board Chairman Kuang-Cheng Chang reflected on the University’s remarkable journey since its founding in 1955. Through a collection of historical photographs, he highlighted the institution’s longstanding commitment to Christian values and whole-person education.

Chairman Chang emphasized that every individual possesses unique talents, experiences, and potential, and that true success lies in realizing one’s capabilities. He recalled introducing whole-person education as the University’s educational vision in 1995, establishing a values-driven approach that continues to shape CYCU’s institutional identity and long-term development.

Chairman Chang also highlighted CYCU’s recent achievements in student recruitment and academic research. For the 2026 academic year, the University achieved a 100% undergraduate freshman enrollment registration rate for the seventh consecutive year. In addition, 31 CYCU faculty members were included in the 2026 World’s Top 2% Scientists rankings, setting a new institutional record.

Expressing gratitude for God’s blessings, the dedication of faculty and staff, and the enduring support of alumni, Chairman Chang reaffirmed that these collective contributions have been instrumental in sustaining the University’s growth and excellence.

A major milestone of the anniversary celebration was the official launch of ten collaborative laboratories, developed through partnerships among CYCU’s academic units, industry collaborators, and alumni networks.

The newly inaugurated facilities include:

  1. Zhen Ding–CYCU Green AI-PCB Collaborative Research Laboratory
  2. College of Engineering AI Collaborative Laboratory
  3. AI × ESG Business Decision-Making Center
  4. Parametric Design and Digital Fabrication Workshop

The laboratories span emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, integrated circuit design, precision medicine, quantum computing and financial technology, digital fabrication, smart thermal management, and humanities-driven technologies. They also extend AI applications into legal technology and sustainable business decision-making, demonstrating CYCU’s capacity for interdisciplinary integration and applied innovation.

The University has also recently inaugurated a new AI Innovation Computer Classroom, established with support from alumni and leading technology companies. The facility provides students with advanced resources for hands-on learning, experimentation, and the practical application of AI technologies.

During the ceremony, representatives from major industry partners shared their perspectives on collaborative innovation and talent development.

The speakers included Chen-Fu Chien, General Manager of Zhen Ding Technology; Dai-Hua Chen, Chairman of the Globe Union Group; and En-Chieh Chang, Chairman of Taiwan Semiconductor Co., Ltd.

All three industry leaders commended CYCU’s longstanding dedication to talent development and the outstanding achievements of its alumni in the business and technology sectors. They also emphasized the importance of integrating industry expertise, technologies, and equipment into university learning environments.

Through these partnerships, CYCU aims to create innovative educational and research settings that bridge academic learning and practical applications while preparing students to meet evolving industry needs.

The anniversary ceremony also featured the presentation of the Ministry of Education’s Gold Medals for Contributions to Education, recognizing individuals and organizations whose generosity has supported higher education and talent development.

This year’s honorees included Shih Ying Industrial Co., Ltd., represented by Chairman Chiu Chiu-Lin, a CYCU alumnus in Chemical Engineering, and Pai Sheng-San, an alumnus of the Department of Architecture.

During the 2025 academic year, which coincided with CYCU’s 70th anniversary, the University received more than NT$179 million in monetary and in-kind donations, setting a new institutional record. These contributions have strengthened educational resources, supported student development, and advanced the University’s long-term sustainability.
