Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) hosted its 2026 University Social Responsibility (USR) Forum, themed “Sustainability Power LEVEL UP↑,” on October 28 at the university library. Focusing on three essential competencies—Cross-Sector Collaboration, Co-Creation, and Employability—the forum brought together industry professionals, faculty members, and students to explore how sustainability initiatives and social engagement can strengthen career readiness and create meaningful social impact.
CYCU President Ying-Ming Lee highlighted the university’s ongoing commitment to social responsibility, industry-academia collaboration, and sustainable development. He noted that CYCU had received multiple recognitions, including the CommonWealth University Citizenship Award, the Global Views USR Award, and the Asia-Pacific Sustainability Action Award, reflecting its achievements in transforming academic expertise into positive social impact.
Chih-Hua Sun, Chairman of United Online and a CYCU alumnus, emphasized the importance of trust, independent thinking, and professional expertise in the AI era. He encouraged students to develop practical problem-solving skills through participation in USR initiatives.

The forum also honored three faculty members with the 2025 Academic Year Outstanding USR Faculty Awards: Professor Ni-Si Peng from the Department of Applied Chinese Language and Culture, Associate Professor Jiong-Zhou Liao from the Department of Electrical Engineering, and Assistant Professor Zhen-Ting Wu from the Department of Landscape Architecture. Their dedication to community engagement and experiential learning demonstrates CYCU’s commitment to integrating education with social responsibility.

Three keynote sessions explored the skills needed for a sustainable future:
- Cross-Sector Collaboration: Yu-Hung Ho, founder of Citizen Bookstore, encouraged students to embrace interdisciplinary exploration and develop unique professional strengths.
- Co-Creation: Jun-Cheng Lin, founder of Can Culture, shared his experience in community revitalization, illustrating how local partnerships can generate sustainable social value.
- Employability: Yu-Ling Tsai, founder of Deren Human Resources Integration, discussed the growing demand for ESG and sustainability talent, highlighting the importance of empathy, teamwork, and practical problem-solving skills.

Organized by CYCU’s Office of Sustainability, the forum reinforced the university’s mission to connect academic learning with real-world challenges and empower students to become socially responsible professionals.
A complementary USR Achievement Exhibition, held from October 28 to 30, showcased CYCU’s ongoing contributions to community engagement, social innovation, and sustainable development.
