This summer, Chung Yuan Christian University's College of Design hosted the fourth "International Design Workshop" with faculty and students from UCSI University, Malaysia, as part of the "USR Pingtung Plan." The workshop focused on hands-on projects to create spaces for local markets, training, and education. Participants learned about sustainable environmental coexistence and bamboo material structures while connecting with the local community to contribute to Taoyuan's development.
Amidst declining birth rates, Chung Yuan Christian University, known for its "holistic education," consistently adheres to its philosophy and receives widespread acclaim. For four consecutive years, the freshman registration rate has been 100%, and it has ranked first among comprehensive universities nationwide for six consecutive years. The university emphasizes emerging technologies such as AI, the metaverse, and quantum computing, providing professional learning environments and earning the trust of students and parents.
Chung Yuan Christian University, in collaboration with the Taoyuan SME Honorary Instructors Association and the Taipei Computer Association AI Alliance, is jointly hosting the "Trends Forum on the Transformation of Traditional Industries Towards Smart Manufacturing." This event aims to promote the development of industrial intelligence and delve deeply into the trends of smart manufacturing.
As global sustainable development issues continue to gain momentum, the importance of business ethics, sustainable development, and social responsibility in corporate decision-making has significantly increased, becoming a major topic of discussion among industry, government, and academia. On June 22, 2024, Chung Yuan Christian University's Business School, the Center for Corporate Social Responsibility, and the Department of Business Administration will host the 2024 "International Academic Conference on Advancing Business Ethics and Social.
The Ministry of Education announced the funding results for the second phase of the 2024 "Higher Education Sprout Project." Chung Yuan Christian University received the highest subsidy among private comprehensive universities, amounting to 152 million NT dollars. This marks the third consecutive year it has ranked first, highlighting the effectiveness of its "Holistic Education" philosophy, widely recognized and approved by various sectors of society.
On the afternoon of June 15, 2024, CYCU held its 66th graduation ceremony, where for the first time, the "Holistic Virtue Award" was presented. This award honored Chemistry Department graduate Lai Chunyong, who, as a volunteer firefighter, successfully saved a critically ill patient, embodying the spirit of holistic development. Additionally, distinguished alumnus of the Business Administration Department and current NVIDIA Global Vice President and General Manager of Taiwan, Lisa Su, was the guest speaker. She encouraged the graduates to love themselves and strive to become better versions of themselves.
Chung Yuan Christian University has partnered with AEMC Co., Ltd. to establish the "AEMC Semiconductor Specialty Chemicals R&D Joint Laboratory," creating a new model for industry-academia collaboration and talent cultivation. This laboratory also receives an annual donation of NT$1 million from Chen Xian, an alumnus of the Department of Chemistry at Chung Yuan Christian University, currently residing in the United States. Together, they are committed to contributing to the long-term development of the semiconductor industry.
The Department of Accounting at Chung Yuan Christian University was the sole representative of Taiwan in the "Greater China Deloitte Tax Championship," competing against over 100 students from more than 60 schools from Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau. Ultimately, they achieved the prestigious "Excellence Award."
NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang delivered a keynote speech on AI applications at National Taiwan University. At the beginning of his presentation, he showcased a map of Taiwan highlighting over 40 NVIDIA supply chain partners in the region. The map also listed 17 universities, including Chung Yuan Christian University, unexpectedly becoming a highlight of the speech.
The 2024 National College Interior Design Competition (TSID Student Award), organized by the Taiwan Society of Interior Designers (TSID), centered on the theme "New Residential Era - Residential Sales Center Design," encouraging students to think about and implement design concepts aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) Interior Design juniors Lin Zheng-Hong and Zhang Guang-Geng won the only Grand Prize with their project "Serene Edge," achieving remarkable success. Notably, the CYCU Department of Interior Design not only secured the Grand Prize but also garnered 22 awards, including bronze, honorable mentions, and merits, showcasing the exceptional design skills of its students.
On May 29, 2024, Chung Yuan Christian University awarded an "Honorary Doctorate" to Lin Qi-Guo, President of the Federation of Overseas Chinese Associations and founder of Dianhua Happiness Institution, in recognition of his long-term dedication to public welfare, emphasis on talent cultivation, and continuous support for academic development.
The "Advertising and Marketing Services Course" at Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) integrates the planning abilities of the Business Administration Department with the design expertise of the Commercial Design Department. The course collaborates with local non-profit organizations and social enterprises to address local development and environmental sustainability issues.
