A student team from CYCU’s Department of Information Management won the championship at the 3rd National Business Big Data Innovation Competition, showcasing exceptional data application and innovation skills. The event was hosted by CYCU’s College of Business and supported by the Ministry of Education.

CYCU’s College of Humanities and Education hosted the Generative AI Application Workshop on May 21, 2025, drawing nearly 100 educators from all school levels. The event showcased practical applications of AI in teaching with faculty-led sessions covering video creation, curriculum design, data analytics, and real-time feedback systems, highlighting CYCU’s commitment to educational innovation and interdisciplinary integration.

CYCU held its annual Service Learning Showcase on May 21, where students from the Advertising and Marketing Service Course presented innovative solutions to real-world social issues. Now in its 19th year, the interdisciplinary course empowers students to collaborate with NGOs and social enterprises, addressing challenges in sustainability, community development, and social impact through creative inquiry and design thinking.

Organized by Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) with support from Taiwan’s Ministry of Education, the 2024 “100K Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition” brought together nearly 90 student teams from across Taiwan. Among them, CYCU’s Commercial Design team earned recognition for Story EMonster, an emotional learning toolkit that helps children express and understand emotions through creative play. The project highlights how design can serve as a meaningful tool for social care and education.

NVIDIA will deliver a keynote at COMPUTEX on May 19, 2025. CYCU is among the few partner universities in Taiwan invited to join. Registration for faculty, staff, and students filled up rapidly, showing strong interest in the future of AI.

Dr. Hsiao-Wei Hu, Associate Professor at CYCU, received the 2025 AI Award for her outstanding contributions in AI innovation, academic research, and industry collaboration. The award was presented at Secutech 2025 by the Taiwan Association of Artificial Intelligence.

In May, Chung Yuan Christian University’s Bachelor’s Program in Intelligent Computing and Big Data conducted an overseas learning and project exchange at Nanyang Polytechnic, Singapore. Led by Professor Chen Yung-Hsiang, eight students developed IoT system design projects and presented them in English, showcasing the program’s strengths in smart technology education and hands-on practice. Within six weeks, the team completed intensive tasks, demonstrating excellent technical and international communication skills.

Chung Yuan Christian University’s Department of Commercial Design won the Golden Pin Concept Design Award: Best of the Year at the 2025 Young Designers' Exhibition with their project “Green Screen: Prologue.” The work showcased their strengths in design integration and innovation, creating an immersive experience that became a highlight of Taiwan’s largest design event.

Despite the challenges of Taiwan’s declining birthrate, CYCU continues to thrive, maintaining a 100% freshman enrollment rate for five consecutive years. In 2025, CYCU was ranked the No. 1 private university in Global Views Monthly’s “Most Favored by Employers” survey, topping categories such as “Most Preferred by Non-Listed Companies” and “Most Preferred by the IT Industry.”

CYCU opened Ji-Da Hall, a new semiconductor education hub funded by alumnus Chiao Ping-Hai. The facility integrates industry needs with chemical engineering, featuring advanced equipment and VR tools to bridge theory and practice.

CYCU has partnered with the Taiwan Data Science Association, National University of Kaohsiung, and Fu Jen Catholic University to launch Taiwan’s first cross-university data science program, featuring a joint Capstone Course that integrates academic and industry resources to train AI-ready professionals with real-world problem-solving skills.

The 2024 Training Program for Thai Chinese Language Teachers, organized by OCAC and hosted by CYCU, concluded on April 26. Forty teachers from Northern Thailand and the Bangkok area completed the 14-day program, praising the diverse curriculum and enriching experience during the closing ceremony held at CYCU.
