The Ministry of Education has established the "Taiwan University AI Alliance," including Chung Yuan Christian University as one of the 25 members. In response to the focus on STEM over humanities in Taiwan, CYCU is committed to balancing these fields through holistic education. The university is aligning its curriculum with AI trends by integrating AI empowerment, interdisciplinary collaboration, and humanistic STEAM, aiming to equip students with both technical skills and humanistic perspectives, enhancing their future competitiveness.
The Taoyuan City Education Bureau, in partnership with Chung Yuan Christian University and its four key research centers, held the "2024 Taoyuan High School Science Experience Camp" on August 21-22. The camp offered thematic science courses, advanced equipment tours, and hands-on activities to enhance students' understanding of scientific trends and inspire their scientific potential.
According to ScholarGPS, 14 professors from Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) are ranked among the top 0.5% of scholars worldwide, highlighting the university's significant contributions to international academia. As a leading private university in Taiwan, CYCU has consistently advanced academic research and innovation, achieving notable global influence through interdisciplinary collaboration.
On August 18th, 39 Chinese language teachers from Myanmar completed a 12-day training in Taiwan. Organized by the Overseas Community Affairs Council and Chung Yuan Christian University, the program emphasized practical teaching methods, supported by theoretical knowledge. Participants gained valuable insights into innovative teaching models, course design, and student interaction techniques.
The 113th academic year's university admission results were released on the 15th, and Chung Yuan Christian University once again achieved a perfect 100% enrollment rate, maintaining its record of "zero vacancies." Despite 2,505 unfilled spots nationwide across 31 universities, Chung Yuan Christian University filled all 655 distribution admission slots, reaching its full enrollment goal.
To enhance the international perspective and practical skills of Chung Yuan Christian University students, the College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at CYCU is hosting the "Second International Summer Project Camp: 2024 CYCU EECS Summer Camp Program" from August 1 to August 21.
The Overseas Community Affairs Council will hold the "2024 Myanmar Chinese Language Teacher Training Workshop" at Chung Yuan Christian University from August 6 to 19. This program aims to enhance the professional skills of Chinese language teachers in Myanmar and provide insights into Taiwan's education system. Organized by the Center for Teaching Chinese as a Second Language, the course features top instructors from Taiwan and includes practical teaching, school visits, and cultural tours, greatly benefiting Myanmar educators.
CYCU won one gold and two bronze awards at the Taiwan Sustainability Action Awards for its projects: "Zhuolan Pear Industry Prosperity," "Collaborative Art of Land," and "Cultural Regeneration of the Sea Community."
To promote international cultural exchange, Chung Yuan Christian University's Chinese Language Center has long organized the "Chinese Language and Culture Study Tour," which has been highly praised by various countries. In addition to arranging Chinese language courses according to the students' proficiency levels, the center also organizes unique cultural exchange activities for the study tours. Students from the Department of Applied Chinese Language and Literature serve as one-on-two tutors and language partners, enhancing both teaching and learning while contributing to national diplomacy.
In the 113th academic year, Chung Yuan Christian University officially established the "School of Semiconductor Industry." It is the first private university to be approved to set up a semiconductor school, following the national universities like National Taiwan University, National Tsing Hua University, and National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University. To support Chung Yuan Christian University in cultivating semiconductor talent, alumnus Hsieh Yen-Sheng generously donated NT$15 million. This contribution will assist in the development of the School of Semiconductor Industry and the establishment of a Semiconductor Material Testing Center, aiding the university in creating a base for semiconductor talent cultivation.
In the 112th academic year, Chung Yuan Christian University's College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science was awarded the "Bilingual Learning Plan for University Students." This plan aims to enhance students' English proficiency and global perspective. The College actively promotes various English learning and career planning activities, including arranging academic exchanges and English teaching observations at overseas partner universities and research institutes. These efforts aim to create a diverse learning environment for students, enhancing their professional knowledge and fostering a global outlook.
Applied Materials Taiwan, a subsidiary of the American company, has invested nearly one million resources to collaborate with Chung Yuan Christian University in offering the "Advanced Semiconductor Equipment" course. The course provides professional instructors and equipment visits, giving students an early introduction to advanced semiconductor equipment work. This initiative aims to build a talent pool for advanced semiconductor equipment and benefit the industry.
