Chung Yuan Christian University excelled in global higher education by securing EU "Jean Monnet Program" certification and a €30,000 grant. The recently completed "European Industrial Landscape International Workshop" has enhanced students' international mobility and competitiveness.
The School of Design hosted a "Face-to-Face with GSAPP" symposium, open to all students. Associate Dean Steffen Boddeker introduced GSAPP’s master’s programs, including M.Arch, MS.AAD, Historic Preservation, Real Estate Development, Urban Design, and Urban Planning. He highlighted GSAPP’s philosophy of encouraging students to explore diverse architectural platforms worldwide, fostering personal development and reflective learning.
As technology and the global economy advance, social challenges grow. To prepare students, Chung Yuan Christian University held the 2024 "Future Problem-Solving Competition," focusing on holistic education and practical application to enhance core skills. The competition, with expert-designed challenges, attracted 55 teams from 14 universities. CYCU's Information Management and Industrial Engineering teams won first and third place.
Professor Kang-Ping Lin, Distinguished Lifetime Professor in Electrical Engineering at Chung Yuan Christian University, has been awarded an honorary doctorate by Romania's Technical University of Cluj-Napoca for his outstanding contributions to medical engineering. His work has advanced global healthcare, fostered international biomedical collaboration, and enhanced Chung Yuan’s global reputation.
The 5th "2030 Beyond the Loop - Circular Economy Innovation Exhibition," organized by the Ministry of Environment and Resource Recycling Administration and hosted by Spring Culture, took place from September 25 to 28 in the main hall of Taipei Main Station. The event showcased a variety of innovative practices and designs in the circular economy, including exhibits on circular cultural and creative industries, shared services, and regenerative design, along with engaging interactive experiences.
On September 25, 2024, the Department of Applied Foreign Languages at Chung Yuan Christian University hosted a lecture featuring former Taiwanese Ambassador to Malaysia, Chang Chi-ping. He shared his extensive diplomatic experience, engaging 155 attendees and sparking interest in international affairs and career development.
Chung Yuan Christian University's Chang Ching Yu Memorial Library has been awarded the first-ever "Taiwan Architecture 25-Year Award" by Architect Magazine! Nearly 40 years since its inauguration, the library has not only preserved its original design intent but has also grown in significance over time, becoming a historic landmark in the academic and cultural realm. Chung Yuan's commitment to respecting the original design and preserving the building has been widely recognized and appreciated.
The Department of Business Management at Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU) places great emphasis on cultivating students' global perspectives and cross-cultural communication skills, arranging overseas internships every summer. From August to September 2024, students from the department participated in a 33-day regional revitalization internship in Okinawa, Japan, gaining valuable cross-cultural exchange and innovative practical experience.
This summer, under the leadership of Associate Professor Chen Hsuan-Cheng, students from Chung Yuan Christian University's Department of Architecture participated in an overseas study and exchange program in Malaysia. During their stay, they collaborated with local architects and cultural historians in Kuching to launch the exhibition "Collaboration with the Land: Collective Memories of Kenyalang." The exhibition received high praise from the local community, showcasing the professional expertise of Chung Yuan's architecture program while offering new perspectives on future spatial development in the region. Through this initiative, they actively embodied the university's commitment to social responsibility.
In 2022, Chung Yuan Christian University established the nation's first College of Intelligent Computing and Quantum Information, marking it as the pioneering institution focused on quantum computing. The college is also committed to developing students' comprehensive skills in areas such as artificial intelligence, big data analytics, and systems integration. This year marks the third year of the university's participation in the National Quantum Team, contributing significantly to the promotion and practical application of quantum computing, with a profound impact on the field.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the "CYCU Station" railway underground project took place on the morning of the 4th, with government officials and CYCU leaders in attendance. Chung Yuan Christian University aims to be the area's largest public space, fostering a vibrant "University Town" that promotes education, industry, technology, and local economic growth through a people-centered and innovative approach.
On August 19, 2024, a student team from Chung Yuan Christian University began their academic journey to the U.S. as part of the Dual Bachelor’s Degree Program with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM). This trip provided both academic challenges and rich cultural experiences, aimed at fostering deep exchanges between students and the international community, while strengthening the partnership between the two universities. UWM held a grand welcome ceremony, highlighting their warm hospitality and commitment to collaboration, with the Dean encouraging students to engage fully in academic and practical activities.
